Camels : Not really native to Australia but imported by Afghans for use in exploration during the 19th Century.  They were used extensively until the use of motor transport made them redundant.  They simply were let loose and roam in large herds especially in Central Australia.

Dingo : As outlined on previous page, these are not really a dog.  They can be dangerous and should not be approached even if they seem friendly.

Grey Kangaroo : The grey kangaroo is the smaller of the kangaroos family but larger than a wallaby.  The general size is about one to one and a half metres (three to four feet) in height.

Red Kangaroo : The largest of the kangaroo family and grow over two metres (six feet) in height.  They can hop at a great pace across the plains and have an enormously strong tail which helps them to balance as they hop.  The kangaroo tail was once very popular for making "Kangaroo Tail Soup", although one rarely if ever hears of that now.

Bourke's Parrot : One of Australia's smaller ground dwelling parrots that live mainly in the grasslands.

Turquoise Parrot : Like the Bourke's Parrot, another smaller ground dwelling parrot.

Eclectus Parrot : Mid sized parrots that are truly beautiful.  They are very unique in that the Male is green and the Female is red.

Gouldian Finch : Australia has many wild finches, and this is just one of them.  They mainly live in forested areas and are always on the move, rarely stopping for any period.

Mallee Ringneck Parrot : A medium sized parrot that lives in the main grain growing areas of Australia.  They are devastating to grain crops and considered a pest by many.
