O people can you hear Him
And the words He gave so true
For He gave us a new commandment
That you love as He has loved you
The Father looked on His creation
Saw a world so filled with strife
Sent Him to walk amongst men
To lead them to new life
He came to a world so filled with anger
Where none did seem to care
A people lost throughout their journey
And filled with much despair
He came to give a message
And to all He would impart
That He did love you dearly
From deep within His heart
For three years He travelled widely
Sharing stories that He told
And to those who stopped and listened
The Son of Man they did behold
To all who chose to listen
He asked they start their life anew
To share a love for others
For love would see them through
He told it o so clearly
That it wasn’t wealth or kind
That was the pathway to redemption
But love would save mankind
Before the Lord did leave us
He spoke of the love He gave
His life would be given for us
So that we to could be saved
Reach out with human kindness
Make love and forgiveness your true quest
Then when you join the Lord in Heaven
You’ll see just how you’re blessed
Those old words filled with much conviction
There are two things that we must do
The first is to love God fully
And to love one another as He has loved you.
