In those days before betrayal
Those around did laugh and jeer
But You did fail to listen to them laughing
It was the sinners You did hear
For forty days You wandered
In the wilderness all alone
As the devil tried to tempt You
And call You as his own
My Lord, I am but human
And have suffered my own loss
But that pain it is but nothing
To what You suffered on that cross
By dying You did teach us
What it is that we must do
Then by Your resurrection
You showed us life anew
So I know that deep within me
I do feel so very safe
And it is all because You taught me
That I must have some faith
And no matter what should happen
Even if death stares me in the face
I can say no to the devil
Because of Your saving grace
Have faith You begged us always
And some peace it will then bring
Because we can then ask the question
Death, where is your sting?
Then as I join with You in Heaven
I can with the Angels sing
And proclaim it oh so loudly
Death, where is your sting?
