Who Am I?

“Who am I”
Is a question we should ask
For if we do not know ourselves
How can we perform our tasks

How can we reach that something
That’s there for one and all
If we fail to see within ourselves
Then we stumble and we fall

Though falling's not the problem
‘Tis something we all do
But we must have the inner strength
To get up and see it through

We can’t give up our goal on Earth
For it is within our reach
If we only learn to always strive
Perhaps practise what we preach

It is so very easy
To tell others and to guide
But can we do it to ourselves
And by our thoughts abide

Remember it is easy
To give advice to fellow man
When what may be really needed
Is to give a helping hand

If we want the help of others
Then of ourselves we must soon share
For the help you give another
Gives them a sign you care

“Who am I?”, I once asked myself
Am I just a simple man
Or am I somehow placed here
As part of greater plan

Is there someone out there
Who needs to find a guide
Wants no more in simple terms
Than someone by their side

Am I that someone needed
To give another hope
Someone that needs guidance
In helping them to cope

“Who am I?” is the question
The answer stares me in the face
For there really is no mystery
I’m a part of the human race
