So many years have been and gone,
Since I called myself just young,
It seems such an age ago,
That my life had just begun.
I’d travelled through my childhood years,
Without much to recall,
But then I seemed to just grow up,
And had to think of one and all.
One day I met this lady,
To me she was so fair,
And I guess deep within my own heart,
I knew she always would be there.
We spent so many hours together,
Never apart for long,
And as each new day did pass by,
Our love became more strong.
For we belonged with each other,
With a love as pure as gold,
But I think there’s one thing we did forget,
And thought we would not grow old.
Yes, we were so very young,
And seemed to have no cares,
As we planned into the future,
That we would together share.
Then finally it did befall,
I guess it was no wonder,
As we listened to those immortal words,
"What God has joined, let no man put asunder."
So many years have been since that great day,
And I hope many more to come,
But even as our years do age,
Our love still feels so young.
I know that there is one thing,
That we all seem to forget,
As we awake another day,
We are much older yet.
But each new day means nothing,
If you really show you care,
And you are around your loved one,
So you can show you’re there.
Yes, there have been many changes,
All throughout my life,
But one thing that hasn’t changed at all,
Is my love for my dear wife.
